A letter to the Editor

Dear blog.

I really am amazed at the amount of time that has passed since we have last spoken to each other. I want to apologise, but I can't. If I start feeling guilty about everything then I will also have to say "I'm sorry" to the stack of TIME magazines on the table, the two novels sitting by the bed, my e-mail account and this semester's syllabus

I have been quite busy with two things that have taken up an incredible amount of my time. The first is an hour long talk I have been asked to give. The topic is complicated and made more so because I have to do the whole darned thing in Japanese! The other thing that has been keeping me away from you is a game called FarmVille. I know, I know. It sounds like I have been stepping out on you, but it's not like that. I really had nothing nice to say, so I decided to say nothing. FarmVille is just a diversion. something that lets me fritter away some time without any mental effort. You, on the other hand need quite a lot of attention.

Am I saying you are high maintenance?
Well, I guess I am, but that doesn't mean I don't love you.
Okey doke, it's Saturday here and I have to get going to work. I will write again soon, promise!

Your bestest friend,
NYD

Dear Blogger,
We need to talk.
Farmville is infecting your friends, are you aware of this? They got a hook up from you and now they can't walk away, and worry if their eggplants are withering before they go to sleep at night.
There was a time when your readers saw pics of you doing yard work- now some of them leave comments in your yard on a sign post in Farmhell.
It would be nice if you'd have a pig roast and an assortment of grilled veggies and invite your blog friends over for dinner...
or maybe just write about it over here on your blog-
Which is what we really want.

I hope I don't need to get out my tractor and chase you down-
Sincerely,

Editor

(LOL!!! I am hooked- thank you :)

Is it too soon to say "Why you gotta be like that?"

If so, I apologize. But not really.

Blogs are hearty entities. They can take the abuse and neglect.
As for your readers... :(
Ah, don’t feel guilty there either.
Enjoy FarmVille. Frittering is a highly underestimated activity.

Oh no, you are NOT going to get me to click on the linkee and then log into FaceButt and then get addicted. Absolutely not. I don't mind your absences. Because when you do pop back up in my comment box, it's like the day's lagniappe.

NYD said...

Moi~ Ha! I don't have to look up lagniappe. Just can't freakin spell the damnned word. Popping into your box is a great treat for me as well. And no, there was no double entendre in that statement.

what is an everfaithful delinquent?

Ah! I see there is a definite 'graduation' from dear diary to dear blog!

Evolution!

NYD said...

Mona~ Why, it's my favorite oxymoronic phrase.

FarmVille?! There's just too much addictive stuff around, you know what I mean? No wonder we never have much time to devote to any one thing.:)

NYD said...

SJ~ I have been spreading myself thin for so many years now that one or two more diversions just won't make a big difference.

That's okay. I simply assumed that Interpol FINALLY caught up with you. I mean geez, it's not like I'm not constantly giving them additional leads.

My kids have discovered FarmVille. Please, save some love for the blog!

Carla said...

Yep, FarmWille got me too...but it's really because I haven't had enough time or energy lately ...and FarmVille really doesn't take any.

Your blog forgives you.

I think a lot of bloggers come to the realization of how much effort they put into posting, and how they have to lay back every now and then to recharge their battieries. It seems that within my circle of friends (yourself included) many of us seem to have hit, not so much an impasse, but rather a slowness. Perhaps that's attributable to how long we've been doing this.
