I've lost a button hole

So, what do you do when you're stuck between seasons and can't find your way out of limbo?

Nonsense is my muse and a refuge for a sanity that I believe is not always on the correct side of the loony bin fence. What I'm tryin' ta say here, somewhere between the babble and the brilliance, is that after so many years of living in Lilliput I have often wondered if my mind ain't become more'n a little warped.

Nowadays, I wonder and fret about the future. I am sure that a lot of other folk are doing the same. Curiously, the Japanese have two words that represent 'future'. I have never looked them up in a dictionary but through years of usage I have come to think of one term as a personal future; a word that applies to the path chosen for oneself, and the other to be used for the collective whole.
I might have been born an American and raised with values that are typical of those born in the same lost generation-what else can you call a generation whose greatest cultural accomplishments were KC and the Sunshine band, the Pet Rock, Streaking and the Fabulous Furry Freak Bros. Yet I have been so thoroughly steeped in the Japanese way of life and their particular way of thinking for almost two decades that I have become 'tainted' like Kevin Costner in "Dances With Wolves". So when I think about the direction life seems to be heading in, I often have conflicting ideas about how much actual influence I have in steering it. I even wonder if nudging or pushing things to conform to a specific idea is the right way of doing things at all.

Some people believe that there is a greater strength in letting the natural flow of life move you from destination to destination and others think that you can't meander. Rigid control and discipline is necessary to avoid pitfalls and procure happiness.

The encroaching malaise and ennui threaten to rend any hope of any kind of stable and prosperous future. Is it better to allow those companies that are dying, to die a natural death or are we to continue pumping resources into them like a doctor keeping patients alive on life support in hopes to restore them to consciousness. Do we want to return to the status quo of life before bailouts?

What do you think we ought to do?

I don’t want a return to the status quo but I don’t believe a do-nothing approach will solve this world-wide financial mess. While at times I think - let those companies sink – other times I worry about job losses (the auto industry).
But if bail-outs are given, they should be accompanied by strict conditions and regulations. Of course, then we get into the issue of massive government control…

We should gather for a great big group hug and let the pixies fix our problems.

Since I have no control over what happens, I try not to think about it.

FFFB rule!

Maybe we should move to Europe. I hear Norway has a strong economy and good healthcare. Not many cute Asian women, though.

Kurt~ If you keep up that way of thinking the Buddist priests will revoke your Zen card.

Grant~FFFB rule???
As for Asian women in Europe. We can always import them They ae small and plentiful so it might not cost too much.

FFFB.

Find 'em
Fuck 'em
Forget 'em
Buy them breakfast?

FFFB = Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers. BTW, you forgot to mention see-through plastic pants. That's a style that will never die.

I'm in Canada in the low to middle income brackets, no matter what happens - we won't see much of a change at all however I truly feel for those who have large investments or whatever. As long as I have my high speed, enough pain meds, tea and noodles to get me through - I think I'll just sit back and watch.

I'm not entirely sure what the "right" way is, but I'm increasingly inclined to say let them die.

My mind warped a long time ago, and I don't even have Lilliput to blame. I have enough neurons firing, however, to agree 100% with your last paragraph.

Grant~ That and Jordache Jeans. God how I miss Seventies disco.
Silver Convention come take me away.

Sam~ Poop rolls toward those who live at the bottom of the hill. One must never be swayed by bread and circuses.

Citizen~ Ahh just like the Red Queen in Wonderland- "Off with their heads."

SJ~ If you are warped it is mainly from trying to make sense of all the Blasphomys that the pixies leave around for you.

balance in all things but how to achieve it is the question. do we move the fulcrum? redistribute the weight? i say fire the fat cats who created the problems and replace them with single mothers who kept kids fed and clothed without drowning in debt on rotten minimum wage factory jobs.
