Waitin on a friend ...

Early in the morning . Too early to be doing more than rolling over and getting cuddlesome with someone special. But instead of doing than I'm sitting at the ass end of a line that's as long as  John Holmes' cock.
I guess I ought to consider myself lucky . I can sit here in sub-zero temperature and poke away at my phone to tell you all about it .
Things here in Morioka are actually looking up. In astrange way it feels a little similar to when I returned home after 9-11. People are kinder and strangers talk to each other with an
ease I seldom see.

I finished a stint making English language announcements at NHK radio two days ago. Reporting on the numbers of deaths and missing people left me feeling very gloomy. To shuck off this feeling I have started a charity drive to collect as much food, clothing, diapers etc. that my van can hold and drive the whole shebang down to a completely destroyed village where  my buddy and his family lives.

Not too sure that's gonna wipe away the patina of sadness...

Kudos on doing what you can in a bad situation. Just be careful when you head out with your supplies, okay?

People do connect with each other and communicate more when there has been a shared disaster, I experienced that when we had the bushfires a some years back.
So good of you to start the charity drive, it may not take away all of the sadness but it will certainly help make life more bearable for those who have lost everything.
As Serena has said, you be careful out there and look after yourself too.

Man, it looks cold. I hope you get some cuddles soon, you deserve them!

The guy I) was referring to in the post just showed up at my school. He hitched a ride with a friend into town to pick up some stuff for his family and to play some vids he took after the quake and tsunami. What a horror! It looks like the set for the next Terminator film.

it may not wipe away the patina but at the very least you are doing something positive and practical.

it' still beyond imagination even when looking at pictures and videos.

It is refreshing to see people pull together when things happen like this.

You are doing a good thing; hunger first, sadness later.

Whatever you are doing is good enough!

You've been "waiting on a friend" for a pretty long time. Hope you are okay.

Interesting. I thought for sure I had left a comment on this series of posts on the catastrophe. I thought I said something about how comforting it was that you had made it through. I thought I said something about how I was saddened to hear of all the devastation going around you.

Perhaps 2012 will be a kinder year for the nation of Japan. If it's as bad as 2011, heaven help us all.
